“Cleopatra and Her Influence on Augustan Roman Art and Architecture”

Cleopatra's Egypt (Elizabeth Kosmetatou, Summer 2012)

 

By comparing, contrasting, and interpreting the styles, characteristics, and techniques that defined Egyptian and Roman art and architecture, I argued Cleopatra did not influence the style of Augustan art and architecture after she died. However, Augustus, who reigned over Rome and Egypt after Cleopatra’s death, used her images and symbols to show how he conquered both Cleopatra and Egypt.
