“Depression and Negativity: Qualities of a Great Leader”
Graduate Readings Seminar (Michael Burlingame, Spring 2012)
I compared and contrasted how Abraham Lincoln’s and Winston Churchill’s childhood, education, personal and political relationships, negative outlook on the world, personal setbacks, and most importantly, each man’s depression influenced leadership facets through war and trying times. I concluded that regardless of their similarities and differences, each man’s unique form of mental illness contributed to his personal and political successes.
